It was built by Mimar Sinan in 1560-65 by Grand Vizier Hersekli Semiz Ali Pasha. It was built to provide income for Semiz Ali Pasha’s foundation in Babaeski. It is located in the center of Edirne, at the corner of Saraçlar Street and the road leading to Kapıkule. There are 130 shops in the 300-meter-long bazaar.
